This all depends on how much hair is present, how quickly it grows and what the cause of the hair growth is. We will establish this within a consultation and recommend a treatment plan specific to your needs as this is different from person to person. With the Apilus, once we treat the hair in the Anagen phase of hair growth, the hair will progressively get  lighter in colour and strength until it will no longer grow again. The intervals in  between treatments will be longer as the hair weakens.

It is important to establish why the hair is there in the first place, if it’s hereditary, due to medication taken, medical conditions or temporary hormone changes as these factors may work against the treatment outcome. We need to patch test for skin sensitivity and it is important that the client understands how the treatment works and the importance of regular treatment intervals as this plays a huge part in the success of the treatment.

You may shave the area over the course of the treatment and your plan will be discussed during the consultation. Waxing or Plucking are not advised during the treatment as it will prolong the course of the treatment – if the hair is not there at the time of treatment, we cannot treat it.

Yes, a new sterile needle is used for each individual treatment and disposed of afterwards. Disposable vinyl gloves are used by the electrologist and the treatment area is kept clean at all times.

This depends on the condition and amount to be treated. During a consultation, the electrologist will be better able to determine how many treatments the particular concern will need. If it is a very small concern like one Milia or one whitehead, this may be treated within the consultation.

It is always best to make sure the skin will accept these treatments and heal well from them. The skin’s sensitivity changes over time for a number of reasons, so it is advisable to patch test the skin first and ensure we are getting the result we want rather that doing an area and having a reaction we don’t want.
